On April 21, 2023, the National Language Service Export Base signing and inauguration ceremony was held in Xiamen. Representatives of the Fujian Free Trade Zone Xiamen Area, Jimei District, and the university signed the cooperation agreement, marking the official establishment of the national language service export base in Xiamen.
National platform, Fujian’s only
The National Language Service Export Base was designated in March 2022 by seven ministries including China’s Ministry of Commerce as one of the first batch of national characteristic service export bases. It has three distinctive positions:
- The only language service export base in Fujian Province
- One of only two university language service export bases in the country
- An innovative model jointly built by local government, the free trade zone, and the university
The base will strongly support the internationalization of China’s language service industry.
Three key projects launched
At the ceremony, the base signed with 12 strategic partners and launched three key projects:
1. Baizor Chinese · Smart Language Learning Public Service Platform
The Baizor Chinese · Smart Language Learning Public Service Platform aims to build a one-stop learning community for Chinese learners worldwide. Features:
- For zero-start Chinese learners around the world
- Ubiquitous, immersive online learning
- AI assessment, multimodal teaching, and other advanced technologies
- Smart solutions for global Chinese education
2. Thailand Phuket Secondary School Pre-college Language Enhancement Project
This project uses accelerated Chinese teaching and management to help exchange students adapt to the language requirements of studying in China through short-term intensive training.
3. Strategic partner ecosystem
The base has established in-depth cooperation with 12 strategic partner enterprises to promote the language service export industry.
Baizor platform strengths
As a key project of the base, the Baizor Chinese · Smart Language Learning Public Service Platform has core capabilities including:
AI assessment — Scientific language ability assessment; real-time speech assessment, handwriting assessment, and other dimensions.
Multimodal learning — Full listening, speaking, reading, and writing training; automatic knowledge graph generation (network, tree, ring, distribution).
Smart teaching management — Automated grading for teachers; real-time learning outcomes and feedback for learners.
Serving national strategy and cultural exchange
The National Language Service Export Base supports national language service strategy. Through the Baizor platform and other key projects, the base will:
- Promote the internationalization of Chinese education
- Support the overseas spread of Chinese culture
- Serve Belt and Road language connectivity
- Train international language service talent
The Baizor team will continue to improve the platform to provide better smart learning for Chinese learners worldwide.
